CSPPA OFFERS MEMBERS AN ONLINE MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM TO PREVENT AND TREAT POTENTIAL ISSUES
CSPPA’ has initiated collaboration with We.Care on a trial basis in order for We.Care to provide advice and guidance for members of the CSPPA. We.Care offers a safe and encrypted method for players to talk to a clinical psychologist.
The CSPPA has arranged an initial trial project where players from North as well as the North organization will take part. North players participating in the program will be offered an individual psychologist, specialized in assessing and treating the player’s individual symptoms and issues. A psychologist specialized in issues within professional sports is available as well.

3 STAGES OF THE CSPPA TRIAL PROGRAM WITH NORTH
The program comprises of 3 stages, all conducted by a clinical psychologist. All stages are optional and all programs will be individually constructed according to the player’s needs.
1) PREVENTION & EDUCATION
What is stress and burnout?
What symptoms should you be aware of?
How can you manage your day-to-day routines?
2) TREATMENT
Video consultations
24/7 encrypted online messaging (answers provided within 24 hours all weekdays)
Learnings
How to prevent fallbacks?
Ongoing dialogue about mental state
3) POST-TREATMENT
The CSPPA’s Mental Health Program introduced in this partnership with North is carried out by We.Care, who offers a safe and encrypted method for players to talk to a clinical psychologist. All players at North will be offered an individual psychologist, specialized in assessing and treating the player’s individual symptoms and issues. A psychologist specialized in issues within professional sports is available.
The program is not a parallel to Norths own programs. CSPPA’s program is deliberately separated from the team’s/org’s setup so that the player can share his or her thoughts with the psychologist freely and anonymously.
CSPPA CONDUCTS EXTENSIVE SURVEY ON MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES IN CS:GO IN COLLABORATION WITH TWO BRITISH UNIVERSITIES
The CSPPA is determined to promote a sustainable working environment for professional players. In doing so, the CSPPA has been collaborating with Dr Phil Birch, Ben Sharpe (University of Chichester, England) and Dr Matt Smith (University of Winchester, England) to plan a comprehensive research project examining the factors influencing mental health of esports players, specifically in CS:GO.
The survey was initiated in August 2020. Please see the press release regarding the launch of the collaboration below.
